Gazing Globes, 2015, Madison Square Park, NYC, NY. February 19—April 19, 2015, Paula Hayes.

Paula Hayes describes making Gazing Globes

I used vintage up-cycled radio parts and glass electrical storage items because technology moves at such a fast pace that these working parts seem like dinosaurs in a bubble. They also seem like the future. The story of these objects, which I set in to a silicone matrix with crystals and fairy dust, within the gleaming globe, create an illuminated landscape ornament evocative of the Victorian style landscape that is Madison Square Park. Both the Industrial revolution and a garden ornament capable of telling the future point us beyond, directly to what is unfolding in the digital era.
